The Governing Council of the University for Development Studies is the highest decision making body of the University, which is presided over by a Chairman of Council. It controls the finances, property, academic and administrative activities of the University.
The Council is made up of government appointees, the vice-chancellor, representatives of University Teachers Association of Ghana (UTAG), Teachers and Workers Union of Ghana (TEWU), University Alumni, Conference of Heads of Assisted Secondary Schools of Ghana (CHASS), students’ union, and Professorial and Non-Professorial representatives of Convocation.
The Council Secretariat is one of the Units under the Office of the Registrar and is headed by a Deputy Registrar. This person is the Recorder to the University Council, Finance, Tender and Development Committees.
The Secretariat is responsible for the day-to-day activities of the University Council and is solely responsible for the organization of Council meetings and conveyance of Council decisions to appropriate Officers for implementation.
