The University for Development Studies, Tamale, hereby invites applications from suitably qualified persons for appointment to the following Schools/Faculty/Directorate of the University.

A.    School of Dentistry

A.    SCHOOL OF DENTISTRY    
The School is looking for qualified candidates for appointment as Professor, Associate Professor, Senior Lecturer, Lecturer and Assistant Lecturer in the following Departments; 

  1. Biomaterial Science
  2. Community & Preventive Dentistry
  3. Restorative Dentistry
  4. Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery
  5. Oral Pathology & Oral Medicine
  6. Orthodontics & Paedodontics

Job Functions/Responsibilities 
Successful candidates will be required to:

  1. teach postgraduate and undergraduate courses in subject-specific areas 
  2. supervise students’ research projects and theses and provide professional mentorship at all levels
  3. develop and design curriculum for new programmes
  4. conduct and publish scholarly research, attend conferences and attract grants
  5. undertake any other academic/administrative task assigned by the University

Job Title and Qualification Requirement 

Professor
For appointment to the grade of Professor, an applicant must have:

  1. PhD in any Dental Specialty or Oral Pathology or Fellow from a recognised University
  2. served as Professor/Associate Professor in a comparable institution for a minimum of three (3) years.
  3. minimum of fifteen (15) publications in high-impact journals.

Associate Professor
For appointment to the grade of Associate Professor, the applicant must have;

  1. PhD in any Dental Specialty or Fellow from a recognised University 
  2. served as Associate Professor/Senior Lecturer in a comparable institution for a minimum of four (4) years
  3. minimum of ten (10) publications in high-impact journal

Senior Lecturer
For appointment to the grade of Senior Lecturer, an applicant must have;

  1. PhD in any speciality of Dentistry or Fellow from a recognised institution 
  2. served as Senior Lecturer/Lecturer in a comparable institution for a minimum of four (4) years
  3. minimum of six (6) publications in high-impact journals.

Lecturer
For appointment to the grade of Lecturer, applicants must

  1. have a PhD in any Dental Specialty or Member or Fellow from a recognised University. 
  2. possess the relevant teaching, research, or other experience relevant to this position.

Assistant Lecturer
For appointment to the grade of Assistant Lecturer, applicants must possess:

  1. research Master’s Degree in any Dental Specialty or Member from a recognised Institution. 
  2. relevant teaching, research, or other experience relevant to this position.

NOTE; In all the positions, applicants must possess a Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) qualification from a recognised institution.

B.    SCHOOL OF VETERINARY SCIENCES 
The School is looking for highly qualified and motivated candidates with the under-listed speciality for appointment as Professor, Associate Professor, Senior Lecturer, Lecturer and Assistant Lecturer:

  1. Veterinary Surgery
  2. Theriogenology

Job Functions/Responsibilities 
Successful candidates will be required to:

  1. teach postgraduate and undergraduate courses in subject-specific areas supervise students’ research projects and theses and provide professional mentorship at all levels

Lecturer
For appointment to the grade of Lecturer, applicants must have:

  1. PhD from a recognised institution in any of the relevant fields mentioned above
  2. the relevant teaching and research experience

NOTE: In all the positions, candidates must hold a Doctor of Veterinary Medical degree (DVM) prior to specialization at the postgraduate level.

C.    FACULTY OF LAW
The Faculty invites applications from suitably qualified persons for appointment to the position of Dean, Senior Lecturer, Lecturer, Assistant Lecturer. Job Title and Qualification Requirements 

Dean
Candidates must:

  1. hold a doctoral degree in law (SJD or PhD) from a recognised institution and a position as a Senior Lecturer or higher;
  2. have substantial academic and professional experience in the field of law, with a record of scholarly achievement and teaching excellence;
  3. demonstrate leadership experience in higher education administration, preferably in a law faculty/school setting;
  4. possess strong interpersonal skills with the ability to inspire collaboration, build consensus, and cultivate relationships with diverse stakeholders;
  5. embody a commitment to fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion in all aspects of academic life; and
  6. possess excellent communication skills, both written and oral, with the ability to articulate a compelling vision for the future of legal education.

Assistant Lecturer
Candidates must:

  1. hold an advanced degree in law (SJD, PhD or LLM) from a recognised institution;
  2. demonstrate knowledge of legal principles and practices, with a strong academic record or professional experience;
  3. possess prior teaching experience, whether as a teaching assistant, tutor, or instructor, (desirable but not required);
  4. have excellent communication skills, both written and oral, with the ability to convey complex legal concepts in a clear and engaging manner; and
  5. be dedicated to fostering an inclusive learning environment that respects diverse perspectives and backgrounds.

Job Functions/Responsibilities 
Successful candidates will be required to:

  1. contribute to the creation and refinement of course materials, including syllabi, instructional resources, reading outlines and assessment tools.
  2. assist in delivering lectures, seminars, and workshops on various legal subjects.
  3. Provide academic support and guidance to students through tutorials, feedback on assignments, and mentoring.
  4. engage in scholarly research, publication and extension activities to contribute to the advancement of legal knowledge.
  5. collaborate with senior faculty members in departmental initiatives to enhance the quality of legal education.

D.    DIRECTORATE OF INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGY 
The Directorate is looking for a talented Programmer/Analyst to join our team. Successful candidate will play a key role in designing, developing, and maintaining software applications that drive our University forward. He or she will also work closely with our team of developers, analysts, and stakeholders to identify business needs and deliver high-quality solutions.

Job Functions/Responsibilities  
Successful Candidate will be required to:

  1. analyse business requirements and design software solutions
  2. develop, test, and deploy software applications using languages such as PHP, Java, Python, or C++
  3. collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and prioritize project requirements
  4. troubleshoot and resolve technical issues
  5. write efficient, well-documented, and testable code
  6. participate in code reviews and contribute to the improvement of the codebase
  7. stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies

Job Title and Qualification Requirements

Systems Programmer
Candidates must:

  1. have Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, Software Engineering or related field
  2. have at least 7 years of experience in software development
  3. be Proficient in one or more programming languages (e.g., PHP, Java, Python, C++, JavaScript)
  4. have strong understanding of software development principles, patterns, and best practices
  5. have Experience with Agile development methodologies (e.g., Scrum, Kanban)
  6. have Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to details
  7. experienced with relational and NoSQL database management systems
  8. have strong communication and analytical skills
