President of the Republic, His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo will on Thursday, August 22, 2024 commission the newly constructed 3-Storey building complex to provide lecture halls and offices on the Nyankpala Campus for effective teaching and learning.
The building complex, under the name "Silver Jubilee Building” is poised to commence full operations soon after the commissioning ceremony.
The President will during the event, unveil a plaque and inspect the facilities on the building. Other dignitaries expected to attend the event are, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Seidu Al-hassan, the Northern Regional Minister Hon. Shani Alhassan Shaibu, the Paramount chief of the Tolon Traditional Area Major Sulemana Abubakar (Rtd), the Chairman of the University Council, Prof. Wayo Seini, and other principal officers, and staff of the University.
In 2018, when President Akufo-Addo joined the University for Development studies to celebrate its 25th anniversary, he made a personal promise to provide the University with a 3-Storey building complex as part of efforts to accommodate the teeming number of applications the university receives every year. It is that promise which has given birth to the Silver Jubilee Building on the Nyankpala Campus.
