The Students Representative Council (SRC) of the Institute for Distance and Continuing Learning (IDCL) -UDS, on 24th August, 2022 presented assorted items to the Directorate of the Institute for Distance and Continuing Learning to help support teaching and learning activities at the various Distance Learning Centres belonging to the University for Development Studies.

The items include 10 dustbins, 5 computers, 5 projectors,5 printers and 10 signposts for all the Learning Centers including, Daboya, Salaga, Kpandai, Jirapa, Sawla, Kpasa, Wenchi, Sandema, Yendi, Buipe, Nkwanta, Navrongo, Walewales, Chindere and Nakpanduri.

The SRC president of IDCL-UDS, Mr. Shahadu Haruna, together with some of the Executives, presented the items to the Directorate. The Items were received by Dr. Felix Y.T. Longi, Director of IDCL on behalf of the Directorate. Mr. Shahadu expressed his gratitude to the University, particularly, the IDCL staff for their support throughout the years.

He intimated that the SRC -IDCL executives faced a challenge with transportation when they tried to convey all the items to the designated centers. However, with the help of the Director of IDCL, Dr. Felix Longi, they were able to convey the computers, projectors and printers. The signposts will also be delivered to the various centers as soon as the transportation challenges are addressed.

The Director of IDCL, Dr. Felix  Longi commended the SRC executives for living up to their corporate social responsibility to the Institute. He added that the items had come at the right time as they would help solve some of the logistical constraints faced by the Institutes. He said, even though the University Management had provided the institute with dustbins, the additional ones received by the Institute would go a long way to help improve on the sanitation situation across all the centers. This, he said, would be a contribution towards achieving Sustainable Development Goal Six (6) which seeks to ensure the availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all.

He advised all students who aspire to become leaders to emulate the good example set by the current leadership of the SRC-IDCL, UDS.
