A delegation from the University for Development Studies has called on the family of the late Chief of the Mion Traditional area to commiserate with them on the passing of the chief.
The late Mion Lana passed away on Wednesday, August 17, 2022.
In a tribute to the late Chief, the Registrar of the University for Development Studies, Mr. Nurudeen Issah Abubakar, who led the delegation, indicated that the late chief was a good friend of the University. He eulogized the late Mion Lana, Alhaji Mahamadu Abdulai as a peace-loving statesman and an experienced traditional leader, who had the development of youth at heart.
Receiving the delegation, members of late chief’s family, including his first son, expressed immense appreciation to the University for honouring the memory of the late chief.
Later, the Registrar, on behalf of the University for Development Studies, signed the Book of Condolence.
Other members of the delegation were Mr. Abdul Hayi Moomen, Head of University Relations, Mr. Ayuba Ibrahim and Mr. Isaac Dramani, of the University Relations Office and Mr. Alhassan Ziblim of the office of the Registrar.
The University donated some items including 4 bags of rice and some cash to the family to aid in receiving guests who continue to call on them.
About the late Mion Chief
The late chief died Wednesday, August 17 at the age of 48. He was the first son of the late Ya Naa Mahamadu Abdulai IV who was an Overlord of Dagbon. He was 14 years old when he was enskinned as Bolin-Lana of the Abudu Royal Gate in Dagbon after the demise of his father Yaa Naa Mahammudu Abdulai. The late Chief was enskinned as Mion Lana on March 3, 2019.
