The Vice-Chancellor of the University for Development Studies, Prof. Seidu Al-hassan, has paid a courtesy call on the Chief of Dungu, Nyab Dungu-Naa, Mahamadu Nagumsi, at his palace in Dungu, a community in the Sagnarigu Traditional area.
This visit forms part of the Vice-Chancellor’s series of visits to some traditional areas to formally introduce himself to traditional rulers, following his appointment and induction into office as the 5th Vice-Chancellor of UDS.
Professor Seidu Al-hassan thanked the Chief for honouring his invitation to attend his investiture ceremony in October 2022. The Vice-Chancellor also expressed his appreciation to the chief for the hospitality he and his subjects continue to extend to members of the UDS community.
He also used the occasion to solicit the Chief’s support, as he embarks on his agenda of transforming UDS into a world class university.
Nyab Dungu-Naa, speaking through the Yapalsi-Naa, Kadir Mumuni, commended the Vice-Chancellor for his hard work as an academician, adding that, it is through hard work that he has been able to rise through the ranks to his current position. He advised the Vice-Chancellor to continue to be principled and make God his ultimate advisor in all his decisions.
While appealing to the Vice-Chancellor to help solve the perennial water crisis in Dungu and its environs, he also appealed to him to open up both academic and employment opportunities for the people in his area.
The Vice-Chancellor’s entourage was made up of the Registrar, Mr. Nurudeen Issah Abubakar, the Head of University Relations, Mr. Abdul Hayi Moomen, the Assistant Registrar at the University Relations office, Mr. Ayuba Ibrahim and the Senior Administrative Assistant Mr. Iddrisu Abdul Malik.
