Benjamin Kongyeli Badii (PhD) is Associate Professor of Agricultural Entomology. He holds BSc in Agriculture Technology, Mphil in Entomology and PhD in Crop Science. He joined the University for Development Studies (UDS) since 2002, as Research Assistant, Lecturer, Senior Lecturer and presently as Associate Professor and Head of Examinations for the Nyankpala campus. His job responsibilities include academic training, scientific research and extension in crop protection, and academic administration. He teaches courses in all areas of Crop Protection at Diploma, undergraduate and graduate levels. His teaching responsibilities also include examination of students’ performances, supervising student research projects, and mentoring graduate students. As Research Scientist, he is specialized in conducting research in Integrated Pest Management, and has vast experience in research proposal development, project management, designing research experiments, analysing data, preparing technical reports, and publishing research findings in scientific peer review journals. His research activities are focused on developing innovative approaches for addressing crop pest problems for sustainable agricultural productivity food security and community development. As Head of Examinations, he is responsible for organizing and ensuring acceptable standards of teaching and successful conduct of examination within the Nyankpala campus. Outside his university schedules, he is a member of the Entomological Society of Ghana, the Ghana National Fruit Fly Management Committee, the Ghana National Plantwise Steering Committee, and a USDA-Borlaug Fellow. He is also a skilled trainer of agricultural extension staff under the CABI-led Plantwise Programme, as well as Consultant for the ECOWAS Fruit Fly Control Programme in Ghana.
