Background
Francis Azumah Chimsah (PhD) is a lecturer with the Department of Horticulture and also in-charge of the University’s Savanna Herbarium at the Nyankpala campus. He has over 15 years’ experience in teaching and research at UDS. He teaches courses including, Plant Materials, Botany, Propagation, Biodiversity and Systematics, Floriculture among others. His area of research and study stretches from environmental protection, plant science including studies on Shea and agro-ecology. Dr. Chimsah, has gained significant level of experience through his research, publication and community service with rural farmers. Using local level technology and easily adoptable techniques, he has curved out a number of farmer beneficial technologies such as improved Shea grafting methods, native tree nursery management manuals and smart farming techniques. He has also been involved in a number of national and international collaborative research and trainings including; SNG, GSA, SNV, FC, GCF, MCF, UNDP, USAIAD, JICA, Dr. Chimsah has shared and presented his research findings in a number of local, national and international platforms.
