Background

Ms. Juliana Bawah (PhD) is a Lecturer and Researcher in the Department of Animal Science, Faculty of Agriculture, Food and Consumer Sciences. She has worked in the University for Development Studies (UDS), Tamale, since 2009 and hence has about 14 years professional working experience with the University. She served as the Quality Assurance Officer and currently Examination Officer in the Department of Animal Science and a committee member for the Faculty’s Seminar Series. She has also served as a duty chairperson on the UTAG financial committee. Her research interests range from ecosystem and animal nutrition, climate change and livestock resilience towards sustainable food production, reproduction and production performance in ruminant and non-ruminant, gender in livestock farming, nutrition (non-conventional feeding in animal production), irrigational farming and its impact on animal production and probiotics and animal production. Dr. Bawah has also served the faculty and other faculties by providing instruction in Agricultural By-product Utilization, Livestock and Poultry Production, Animal Reproductive Physiology, Nutrition and Reproductive Physiology in Farm Animals, Ruminant Production, Anatomy and Physiology of Livestock, Environmental and Reproductive Physiology of Farm Animal, Livestock and Community Development, Environmental Physiology and Animal Behaviour, Livestock and Rural Development and Reproductive Physiology and Techniques. She has supervised Diploma, Degree and Postgraduate students and has published articles in peer reviewed journals and conference proceedings. She is a member of several professional associations including Ghana Society of Animal Production (GSAP), Ghana Science Association (GSA), Women in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (WiSTEM), Ghana Animal Science Association (GASA), Africa Women in Agricultural Research and Development (AWARD), All Africa Society for Animal Production (AASAP), Domestic Animal Diversity Network (DAD-Net, Women in AgriBusiness and University Teachers Association of Ghana (UTAG). Dr. Bawah has reviewed manuscripts for Agricultural and Food Science Journal of Ghana (AFSJG), Bulletin of Animal Health and Production in Africa (BAHPA), International Journal of Livestock Research (IJLR), and Ghana Journal of Animal Science (GJAS). She has been part of projects funded by the International Centre for Tropical Agriculture (CIAT-WLE), Basic Environment Systems and Technology Inc. (BEST), Canada and DFiD, UK.
