Yakubu Alhassan Zakaria holds a Master of Philosophy in Development Management from the University for Development Studies with funding from German Academic Exchange Services (DAAD). His research is mainly at the interface between urbanism, nature-based solution, public policy, environmental governance, and sustainability. His research draws on both quantitative and qualitative methods to examine development challenges and the ways in which institutions, policies, and communities respond to them. He is also interested in applied and community-engaged research that connects academic work with practical policy and development concerns. He has published in peer review journals and since served as peer reviewer for journals such as Cities, Land Use Policy, Discover Cities, Discover Sustainability, Planning Theory and Practice.
