I started my university education in September 1997 at the University of Science and Technology, Kumasi, Ghana, where I sat for a four-year Bachelor of Science (Hons) program in Geological Engineering and graduated in July 2001 with SECOND CLASS HONOURS (Upper Division). I later obtained a Master of Science degree in Civil Engineering (Water Supply and Environmental Sanitation Engineering) from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, in July 2005 through Netherlands-sponsored project fellowship in cooperation with IHE-Delft. My MSc. thesis focused on groundwater recharge potential of the crystalline basement rock complex of Ghana. I had my PhD in Applied Chemistry (Geochemistry) at the University for Development Studies at the Department of Applied Chemistry. My PhD research focused on understanding the hydrogeochemistry and groundwater recharge issues within the Vea catchment in the Upper East Region of Ghana. I am a senior lecturer in the Department of Geological Engineering, School of Engineering, UDS. I have more than sixteen years of teaching experience in public university and ten years of professional experience in the field of planning, design, construction monitoring and evaluation of both rural and peri-urban water and sanitation infrastructure. I am acquainted with issues of community ownership and management and Participatory Rural Action (PRA) for communities throughout the country.
My research interests are in the areas of groundwater sustainability, hydrogeochemistry, isotope hydrology, and environmental geochemistry. My research aims to contribute significantly to the efficient management and monitoring of groundwater systems to our understanding of groundwater evolution and the geochemical controls influencing groundwater chemistry with emphasis on water-rock interaction, groundwater recharge, groundwater age, groundwater contamination and contaminant transport and the associated health risks.
